We recently had out Chango88 tested on the Italian Windnews magasine. Once again the Chango had great feedback for its overall versatility, great planing and its ability to be a matching board for lots of conditions.

PWA Costa Brava

The PWA slalom worldcup in Costa Brava ended up with nearly two eliminations finished being the event this year with the least time on the water. None the less, our guys were on the water getting a piece of the pie. Lots of waiting time and shifty weather made it impossible to run more rounds and the shift for our team has now switched over to the next worldcup which will be in windy Fuerteventura. Battle of the paddle

The Angulo(GU) crew was represented with the latest SUP line at the Battle of the Paddle event in Oahu, Hawaii. The complete Angulo SUP line was available for everyone to try and lots of good feedback was recieved during these days. Legend Ed Angulo sent us an update on the event, here is what he had to say: “Just got back from a weekend on Oahu at The Battle of the Paddle. Great event with an assortment of races for all ages and abilities. I even raced in the Open, and was happy to have finished. Our complete SUP lineup was available for all to Demo and the response was terrific. Gave some beginner lessons and had people say that their time paddling was the highlight of their vacation.The pictures are of my wife Patty (mother of the champion watermen Mark and Josh and champion electrician Andy). That’s Mark and his wife Elena (who is a Hookipa rippah herself) and me in our booth at the event. Looking forward to participating at the next event which will be in October at Dana Point California.”

Korea worldcup wrap-up

The first PWA slalom worldcup of the year is now finished with 6 eliminations completed. The Ulsan worldcup brought both ups and downs for our guys Josh Angulo and Kurosh Kiani. We saw the Magnum slalom boards performing at their best taking down competition.

Here are some words from Kurosh Kiani: “The first worldcup of the year was very educational for me. I had the chance to see how my speed was, how my race game plan was working and how i was handling getting back into real life racing. I must say that i feel much more relaxed now compared to last year because i have spent the time preparing, and mistakes that i do get taken into consideration at once instead of getting into a mix of other facts that you need to think about. I know that i have good gear. I have spent lots of time on the boards and i know that i can handle it speedwise and when it comes to jibing. And now it comes down to being able to put all your energy into the racing and taking out your competitors. I know that Josh is super excited to get out there for the next worldcup in Costa Brava, and so am i. We came back with lots of new input which is going to help us get up there in the top. Now there is 3 weeks to go until the Costa Brava worldcup, and its time to get back on the water and get tuned in for the conditions that this place brings.”

Defi results

The Defi wind race has again been a spectacular race of 1000 windsurfers racing in nuking wind conditions. Our young gun Steve Laubaney got himself on an impressive 28th place considering his young age.

We are super stoked about Steve´s great result. Unfortunately Stephane Queniart had problems with a hurt ankle but he gave us this report from the windy shores of Gruissan: ”it was a great experience, 1000 riders on a starting line it was amazing!! there were between 40 and 60 knots of wind. I used the 95 magnum I love it !! very easy and quick unfortunatly I was with a hurt ankle, I had to stay on the beach to support steeve! I have not lost my time on the beach because there was a lot of people standing around the magnums with envious eyes, I cant wait to get back out there”

One more round in Korea

The day at Ulsan, Korea startet rainy and cloudy but then turned into a sunny and windy spot in the late afternoon, and the sailors were sent out for another round of racing. It was both up and down for our guys at Jinha beach as Josh Angulo got disqualified in the quarter final. But Kurosh Kiani regained some of the glory by winning his first round heat in style. Here is some of the words Josh had to say about the day: “Today was one of those days where my first reaction when I went over early and was disqualified, was … I hate myself!. I know it’s very strong, but for some reason slalom sailing makes me that frustrated, because I’m very hungry for results. Fortunatley with age, I learn to cool quicker and already by the time I arrived to the beach I was still bummed but mellow. I had a talk with Robby Swift, who I know was feeling a bit down as well, so we got to bounce a few things back and forth. My high point is that I started learning quite a bit more about my new Gun Sails, which I just received. So I’ve had to learn about the tuning during the racing, which is definitely not ideal. I’m starting to get more comfortable and I am excited at the possibilities of their performance. Also, I have had a huge suport from Gun Sails, although I’m off to a shaky start, they understand the circumstances and have been very cool about the whole thing which reconfirms my confidence with the people I’m working with. Also, today I had a very proud moment when Kurosh won his first round heat in stylish form in front of second place Former World Champuon , Micah Buzianis. It was gret to see the big “A” in first place and the Magnum chomping down the competition. I’m looking forward to what I hope will be one last chance here in Korea and regardless of the challenges here. The Angulo team is buckled down and fully commited to the race and developmental efforts to be at the front”

Waiting waiting waiting in Korea

Rain and bad weather has left the racers in Korea on standby for several days leaving lots of guys with no chance to do comebacks. As it is now the forecast is not looking too good but thermic winds have a tendency of picking up during the day in Jinha beach so we will hope for more wind later in the day for our boys and wish them the best of luck. We know they both have been working hard over winter, so giving them a couple of more races will make us stoked. All the down time in Korea has given Josh Angulo and Kurosh Kiani to give us another update from the daily life at Jinha beach. Check out this little clip they put together for us from the windless days at Ulsan, Korea.

We´re on in Korea

Korea slalom worldcup is on, and 3 eliminations has already been run. Our boys Josh Angulo and Kurosh Kiani still need to get their racing game on, but they have been around the event site for the opening ceremony checking out what is going on around Jinha beach on a night like this. There is still 4 more days of racing left, so stay tuned here at anguloboards.com for more updates from our guys down in Korea. We wish them our best of luck for the coming days. Ready for the Defi

Stephane Quiniart has just recieved his new Magnum62 and is now ready for the Defi Wind race which will start tomorrow. This time 1000 windsurfers will battle it out on the long distance course of the Defi at Gruissan. Also competing in the Defi is our youngster Steve Launabey. We wish both of them good luck and a great time at the Defi.
