World cup Cabo Verde online
In just a few days we are going to se some radical action from the waves of Cabo Verde including all of the top riders of the world. Guys are already on the island of Sal preparing for the final of this years tour. No doubt that it is going to be epic as always and to give everybody out there the best conditions to follow all the action closely, the event website www.caboverdeworldcup.com is going to bring you everything live while the event is on, so be sure to click through to the live action, riders section or even chip in with a little twitter tweet of yourself. Check it all out at www.caboverdeworldcup.com. The event will kick off on this weekend.
Here are some words from the organisers about this years action:
Countdown to the PWA Cabo Verde 2010 finals: The time is here and excitment is high . For the first time in years the PWA finals will be decided in epic down the line conditions. As the title race is still wide open many of the forerunners are already here and getting used to the conditions in hopes of securing their place in windsurfing history. Current number 1 Victor Fernandez has been on the island since Oct.27 and had this to say . ” I came early in order to get very comfortable with the ocean conditions and overall vibe of this island. I also went very early to both Pozo and Denmark this year and that tactic paid off. So far here in Sal, I have surfed and windsurfed every day , pretty much alone and some days with just 1 or 2 people out. I am getting my equipment tuned up and am feeling comfortable. This is the first time I’ve ever entered the final event in first place and it definitely feels good . Here in Sal we’ve been well received and are having a great time. It’s definitely become one of my favorite places to visit.”
A name synonomous with Ponta Preta is 2 time event winner and 2 time world Champion, Josh Angulo who we asked for his thoughts on the conditions this time of year.” November is typically the time o year when the trade winds return and the winter swells start rollling in. Everybody thinks it only works in Feb/ March, but actually many of our best sessions are in November and we pray this year turns out the same. I’m confident that between the 15th and 23rd we’ll get a bombing swell with wind and once again Ponta Preta will show why it is the world’s showcase event. This year beyond the windsurfing, the event has expanded into Santa Maria where we will have some awesome cultural events. The Cabo Verde event is basically becoming a must attend watersports festival with the coolest vibe possible. There will also be a live web-streaming which can be seen at www.caboverdeworldcup.com amongst other websites”
Also on island are 3 time world champion and 2008 event winner , Kauli Seadi ” It’s good to back in CV. I have a real affinity with the place. The people treat me like family and so I feel more and more at home each year. I’m in the run for the title and Victor has a lead which puts me in a position that I definitely need to win here to give myself a chance for the title. It will be a big challenge, but my equipment and focus is rock-solid so I go into the event feeling strong and looking forward to sailing here in Cabo Verde.”
First time visitor and windsurfing phenom Phillip Koster had his maiden voyage yesterday at Ponta Preta” Yesterday I was hanging out at the Angulo Beach Club because there was not much happening and Josh came and got me and said there was some small waves at Ponta Preta, so I headed over there with him. The waves were small and close to the rocks and the wind was very light, but it was cool to get my first session under my belt and Josh was telling me how to line up and show me some things so it was a good way to have my first ever Ponta experience.”
So with the main tour forerunners in the house and many of the Ponta Preta rippers on the way, the event is shaping up to be one of the biggest and baddest in the history of our sport.

Cabo Verde Worldcup is ON!
The ultimate final of this years wave tour will now be on the world known break of Ponta Preta on the island of Sal. This opens up for a new and exciting opening for the world championship title, and what a place to finish it off. Usually the Cabo Verde event is at the beginning of the season, but this year it has been pushed to november 15-23. Will Josh Angulo make a one time appearence? Here is what he had to say himself:
“We’re firing on all cylinders at the prospect of closing the 2010 season in Cabo Verde. Historically the biggest finals ever were in Hawaii and now Cabo Verde has jumped into the driver’s seat with the billing of ‘best windsurf spot in the world’. The mixture of wavesailing’s legends clashing their epoxy swords with the PWA warriors of today should make for one of the heaviest showdowns of all time. The early winter period of November brings with it fresh ‘alizes’ breezes as well as pulsing Atlantic swells which combine for a lethal cocktail of ‘Ponta Preta on the rocks’. I personally look forward to a one-off wave competition appearance and will have to buckle down to try and hold my top spot in the lineup, but most of all I look forward to once again welcoming the world, alongside CapeVerde Investimentos and Camara Do Sal, to the friendly islands of Cabo Verde.”
Should anyone have forgotten how Ponta Preta is like when it is firing, then check out this video of Josh ripping it at the previous years contests. See you on Cabo Verde

Funniest thing I’ve ever seen – Andy A...
Can you guys beleive it? Two brothers ending their exciting careers as extreme WATER-SPORTSMAN at exactly the same time!!!
ANDREW ANGULO never stopped dazzelling spectators as he carved up the shorebreak, and “SKOOGIE-BOARDED” his way into the hearts of people worldwide. Also josh with his windboarding. When ANDREW ANGULO hit his 30’s fans everywhere expected him to soften his attack, but surprising everyone, he became known as “THE GLADIATOR OF THE SHOREBREAK” with his medival like slamming style!!! Well who would have known 2009 would bring an end to two legendary careers. ANDREW ANGULO never showing signs of slowing down or letting up, said it was time to hand the flaming torch to a young up-and-coming shorebreak master.
ANDREW ANGULO (a.k.a. THE GLADIATOR OF THE SHOREBREAK) is retiring after an unbelievable strong year, coming in 24th OVERALL!!! and scooping up 9th place at the “ANDY ANGULO OPEN”, held at Makena State Beach. He originally came in 10th, but after a stern protest, and a breif violent confrontation with a seventh grader he was bumped to 9th place. Also josh did good, coming in first in sail-surfing. BY NO MEANS DO WE WANT TO DIMMINISH THE CAREER OF josh, when we asked josh who inspired him the most, he simply replied “that’s easy my older brother ANDREW ANGULO a.k.a. “THE BLACK FALCON” the guy just comes out of nowhere and slams the lip so hard, it gives me chills just to watch him. Before my older bro ANDREW ANGULO took me under his wing, I was doing “big slow faggy wus-berger turns half way down the face of the wave. It was Andrew who really taught me about the cresting part of the wave called the “lip”, before that I really was on a downward spiral earning the nick-name “FIZZLER McGINSKY”. Also, other guys were calling me “HALF-TURN HANK”, …..”CHICKEN-JIBE JERRY”,..and oh yeah…I cant forget “TWO-PUMP PETER”. ANDREW ANGULO was instrumental in forming my career like a piece of slightly damp clay. When we were kids, I used to go to Makena with him, and just study him for hours. Just observing him carving thick slabs of ocean, and throwing frightening peacock tails, I was speechless! To tell you the truth, it was like watching a “ballarena dance on the ocean on the tips of glass slippers”. Well I would like to close by saying CONGRATULATIONS you two wonderful talented waterman, ANDREW ANGULO with your relentless “marine like attack” bombording and annialating shorebreaks around the world!!!!
And also josh with your…oh man!! seems we need a new ink cartridge. One more thing Andrew sends a big “WHAT WHAT” to all his fans, thanks for all the support…I love you all. “THE GLADIATOR”

2009 World Wave Champion
Dear All, It sure is a blessing and a stoke to be back on top and finish my competitive wave career with a Wave World Title. My wife and I moved forward in faith and had them come to Sylt even before we knew we had the title because in our heart we knew it for quite some time. God is amzaing in how he reveals things to us, than its up to us to have the faith and trust in Him…. that is many times the hard part.
My wife has been very instrumental in this world title as she was sure even years ago, that I was gonna win another one and in the upcoming weeks o Sylt and through the event she helped give me peace and confidence.
Thanks to everybody !
Josh
