Battle of the paddle
The Angulo(GU) crew was represented with the latest SUP line at the Battle of the Paddle event in Oahu, Hawaii. The complete Angulo SUP line was available for everyone to try and lots of good feedback was recieved during these days. Legend Ed Angulo sent us an update on the event, here is what he had to say: “Just got back from a weekend on Oahu at The Battle of the Paddle. Great event with an assortment of races for all ages and abilities. I even raced in the Open, and was happy to have finished. Our complete SUP lineup was available for all to Demo and the response was terrific. Gave some beginner lessons and had people say that their time paddling was the highlight of their vacation. The pictures are of my wife Patty (mother of the champion watermen Mark and Josh and champion electrician Andy). That’s Mark and his wife Elena (who is a Hookipa rippah herself) and me in our booth at the event. Looking forward to participating at the next event which will be in October at Dana Point California.”

Josh Angulo joins Gun Sails
New times are ahead for Josh Angulo, who has just signed with major brand Gun Sails as he did 15 years ago. Here are some of the words he had to say about coming back to a brand that he has been with it such long time ago:
Josh Angulo: “It’s good to be home with Gun Sails .When I previously joined the family 15 years ago, The Gun Sails Team and myself had a lot of good times together. Flash forward 15 years and I’ve rejoined what is now one of the strongest windsurf brands in the world. They run one of the coolest operations I’ve ever been exposed to.
Sail designer Renato Morlotti has a fanatical approach to perfection. This guarantees one of the strongest and most performance products available, which I require for my wave conquests and my goal to be a PWA slalom frontrunner. To be able to work with a team infrastructure whose main goal is great products and great customer service is such a sense of freedom. I am extremely thankful to be placed into such a great organization. From here out……. IT’S ON !”

Chango and Creola tested in Italy
Angulo is getting Global, and we recently had our boards tested in Italy by our entuthiastic italian sailors who have put our boards through tests in both Sicily and Liguria in the north of Italy. This time it was our wave board Chango and freestylewave board Creola that were put to the test in various conditions, to see if the design objectives of our boards match the actual sailing feeling. Here are some of the feedback that we recieved from our Italian freind Emilio D’Onofrio from a still cold Europe sailing day.
CHANGO 88 IN SICILY:
A few days ago we tested the Chango in Sicily. The spot is next to Mazzara del Vallo city and it’s called “puzziteddu”. Naish surfed there once in the past. There is a windsurf school managed by Thomas Corsodoro.
The feedback from him was entusiastic: Chango is great in passing through the wave, great control during backloop, and smooth and fast cutback during waveride. Unfortunately Roberto did not have the chance to take nice photos while he was surfing. He only took a photo of the board on the beach.
CREOLA 94 IN LIGURIA
On saturday I tested the Creola in Noli (Liguria north Italy). The group of friends were not available this weekend to go on windsurfing, so I met some new surfers on the beach there and showed them the board. Some of them have tested and the feedback was really positive. The wind was coming from north north east side-off shore, and the sea was choppy. Water is still cold (look at the wetsuits). Max from windnews magazine tested the board and found it very nice. After a couple of long jumps he also closed a forward.
I understood that he has a good feeling with the board as even I showed the board as a freestylewave, he commented that according to him the board also has a freewave attitude to it.
The caracteristics he appreciate more are: control in choppy water, control during jumping, smooth jibing, speed.
The negative side of the day was that I surfed only 1 hour as I gave the board to other people and could not get it back.
Check out more pictures of the testing days.
We are stoked to have our boards on the water for the test and to recieve all the feedback we can get. And we know that oure Chango and Creola will be bringing joy to more windsurfers out there during the season.

Kiani throws it down in Maui
Our boy Kurosh Kiani has been on fire in Maui. All of our Magnums have been on the water for the ultimate tests. Here is what he had to say about his time on the boards over in Maui:
Maui has been rocking. A bit fewer good wave days for me, but lots of slalom sailing. We had a long period with nuking conditions so I put the Magnum62 to the test. With 5,5 and 6,2 I sailed the board in absolutely windy conditions and proofed that this board can take a lot of wind considering its size. And when it comes to jibing, it has for sure made me a better jiber as now I really have a good carving drive in my turns and come out with good power. On the Magnum62 i have used fins from 32-37.
Something that you feel instantly when going on these boards is the very light weight. Its fantastic.
I have also spent lots of time on the Magnum72 with sails from 7,0-8,6. This board is the perfect allround board. It can take lots of sail sizes and just keeps working even with a fully powered up 7,0. This board is definetely my favorite jibing board as I have instant power coming out of the jibes which means I rarely stop in those turns. Even with my 8,6 I find stability on this board which supports me and the sail very nicely. For any guys looking to have a one board quiver, this is definetely the board to go for. For this board I have been on fins from 38-42cm.
The last few days I have put the Magnum82 to the test as well, and all I can say is that this board is a machine. I am surprised how much speed you can get out of a big board. Speedy comfort are the first words that pop into my mind when I think of this board. With the same jibing abilities as the other boards, this board is going to be a powerful weapon out there on the course. Just push it harder and it will take you faster guaranteed. This board is going to eat up the other boards out there. Definately its shark look worthy. The Magnum82 takes fins from 46-54 whether it is a carbon or a G10 fin. Love this board.
It is not just about speeding over here in Maui. I really try to focus on getting those jibes in as well. I have bouys on the water everytime and try to get some racing situations going on. Luckily there are lots of guys here willing to race, so I feel lucky being able to have this set-up.
The forecast still looks good, so there are loads of time left to spend on the water. I am still psyched to do more sailing over here before heading back home to Denmark, where there will be a big change of scenery as I will be sailing in lighter winds and probably in the lakes as well. Not a bad pre season training program I would say.
Aloha from Maui
Kurosh Kiani

Check out Stephane Queniart
Check out our new boy on the Angulo team Stephane Queniart, who just hit the water on the new Magnums at his home in Guadeloupe.
Aged 31 and living in the Caribbean, he comes from a windsurfing family and among the best waveriders in the Caribbean.
Stephane is just the kind of guy we like having around carrying the spirit of our brand into the beutiful carribbean and around the world. Now also into slalom and already a local champion, Stephane is setting off on new adventures on our Magnum boards showing how its done. As for himself, Stephane dropped us a few lines on what is on his mind:
“Like many of us I am fond of this sport. In recent years I was mainly waveriding in Guadeloupe and in Maui, but this year I decided to practice the slalom, and this begins rather well because I took the head of our Championship! My sail number is GPE3 it is an important number here because it belonged to the king of the caribbean waveriding David Bourroux. He is a longtime friend of Josh Angulo, and I’m sure he will be delighted to see his number on water! The Angulo brand symbolizes more than any other brand our dream since we were children. The dream of Hawaii, the perfect wavesailing of Cabo Verde and the crazy manoeuvers of Josh and Mark which have fascinated us for many years”
Check out some action shots that Stephane sent us recently.
Have a great season Stephane, eat em´up.
