Josh makes podium in Korea

Josh makes podium in Korea

The PWA worldcup in Ulsan is over and the Angulo team returns with victory as Josh makes it all the way to 3rd place making it his best slalom result yet. The result of extensive R&D work on the Magnum boards is now showing its results making this years Magnum range the ultimate weapon for slalom battle.

The Ulsan PWA event was long and offered difficult wind conditions but with his combination of the Magnum boards and the 2011 Gun Sails Josh managed to stay consistently in the top finishing it off with a final win.

Here is a couple from Josh about his podium finish at Jinha Beach, Ulsan: “Feels Good! After some trials and tribulations in trying to get my slalom legs, I finally managed to get a podium finish for the first time in my slalom career. The hard work in developing the new Magnums combined with Gun Sails substantial R&D program has finally given me the equipment to battle with the best of em’. I don’t want to get ahead of myeslf and I know I have to continue to take it one start and one jibe at time, but I can definitely say that I have a greater motivation than ever before to keep tuning my equipment for maximum effeciency. Thanks to all the friends out there who have been very supportive !

Cabo Verde Worldcup is ON!

Cabo Verde Worldcup is ON!

The ultimate final of this years wave tour will now be on the world known break of Ponta Preta on the island of Sal. This opens up for a new and exciting opening for the world championship title, and what a place to finish it off. Usually the Cabo Verde event is at the beginning of the season, but this year it has been pushed to november 15-23. Will Josh Angulo make a one time appearence? Here is what he had to say himself:
“We’re firing on all cylinders at the prospect of closing the 2010 season in Cabo Verde. Historically the biggest finals ever were in Hawaii and now Cabo Verde has jumped into the driver’s seat with the billing of ‘best windsurf spot in the world’. The mixture of wavesailing’s legends clashing their epoxy swords with the PWA warriors of today should make for one of the heaviest showdowns of all time. The early winter period of November brings with it fresh ‘alizes’ breezes as well as pulsing Atlantic swells which combine for a lethal cocktail of ‘Ponta Preta on the rocks’. I personally look forward to a one-off wave competition appearance and will have to buckle down to try and hold my top spot in the lineup, but most of all I look forward to once again welcoming the world, alongside CapeVerde Investimentos and Camara Do Sal, to the friendly islands of Cabo Verde.”

Should anyone have forgotten how Ponta Preta is like when it is firing, then check out this video of Josh ripping it at the previous years contests. See you on Cabo Verde

Massive swell hits Sal

Massive swell hits Sal

One of the biggest swell seen for years hit the island of Sal about a week ago. We set out to ride some of the perfect waves at spots like Ali baba and Fontana scoring big for a couple of days. Big wave windsurf, Tow-in surf and surfing was on the programme these few days, and Sal lived up to its reputation bringing perfect long waves. With wind for two days and some days without wind, every kind of conditions opened up. We have compiled a vido of our best moments from these days for you to enjoy. Also check out the shots from the big windsurfing day.

Josh had this to say: “After being busy on being on the water for a long time on Cape Verde, it was perfect timing for good friend Kai Katchadourian to turn up with one of the biggest swells we have seen here on the island. We had the most amazing time riding some of the longest waves ever here on Sal.

King of the shorebreak

King of the shorebreak

On 3rd January, with the swell pumping in Santa Maria bay, the decision was made to hold an impromtu “King of the Shorebreak” wave event.
The local boys have the shorebreak in front of the Angulo Centre dialed. In the light wind and big waves their balance is incredible. The show was amazing with goiters, one handed airs and massive light wind aerials being the norm.

Just check out the images below.

After the closely fought heats, the results were:
1. Roberto
2. Joe
3. Ariano
4. Di

Well done to all involved!
